Chef John creates divine combinations
Chef John started in the restaurant business at age 16 washing dishes. Over the years, Chef John began to develop a passion for wordly cuisines. At age 19, Chef John was invited to apprentice with Chef Federico's Desantis, executive chef & owner of Federico's Italian Eatery, a Virginia Beach local favorite for over 2 decades. There, Chef John developed a diversified culinary skill set that has brought him to where he is now.
While at Federico's, Chef John met his wife Cheryll. She spent over a decade working at Seaside Health Center at Atlantic Shores as a Certified Dietary Manager/Senior Caregiver. Since opening, Mangia Qui has added a new member to the family, Wes Wilkins.
Wes Wilkins has worked at premier Virginia Beach restaurants since 1995 including Federico's Italian Eatery. He has a growing passion for food and wine, studying to become a Certified Sommelier. Together, we have a desire to bring a higher level of cuisine and a full dining experience back to Virginia Beach's Town Center.
Mangia Qui Italian Bistro focuses on cooking authentic Italian-American cuisine with southern flair. We make everything in-house possible, including fresh bread, mozzarella, salad dressings, soups, and more. Mangia Qui does not use high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated fats or preservatives. We also utilize local farms & artisans for the freshest ingredients seasonally.
